Kayla uses a variety of treatment tools such as manual therapy, dry needling, exercises prescription, and education to help her patients reach their rehabilitation goals.

Why did you become a Physiotherapist?
I knew early on that being a physiotherapist was going to be the career for me. Growing up I  spent most of my time in a gymnasium. I loved being active, playing sports and competing.  Through being active, I developed a drive to understand the science behind how the body moves and functions. I found that being a physiotherapist was the career for me that combined my passion for understanding how the body moves and a career that I can help individuals get back to their movement goals. There is nothing more rewarding than discharging a patient from your care that has reached their rehabilitation goals.

Do you have an area of special interest?
I have a passion for treating woman’s pelvic health concerns. I have taken many courses to help treat many pelvic floor dysfunctions such as urinary and fecal incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, pelvic pain, pain with intercourse, and pre and post-partum concerns. I love empowering women to gain control of their bodies, improve their quality of life, and get back to their activities. I also enjoy helping all individuals, with a variety of injuries and conditions, on their rehabilitation journey.

How does movement impact your life?
Movement has always been an important aspect of my life. I keep my body in motion by walking, running, hiking, weight lifting, and participating in various sporting activities. I think it is important to try new activities. I am currently attempting to learn how to golf and improving my spike ball skills.

What does a great Physiotherapy experience look like to you?
A great physiotherapist experience is a visit where your voice can be heard, your concerns acknowledged, and your goals understood. An explanation of what is going on with your body,  as well as a tailored treatment plan and exercise program, all of which will help you help you manage and reduce your symptoms, improve your current functional ability level, and return you back to your activities.
