How many years have you been a physiotherapist?
I have been a physiotherapist since 1995. I have worked in the downtown Calgary for over 20 years. I’m proud to have been the Clinic owner since 2014.

Why did you become a Physiotherapist?
I tore my ACL when I was 18 years old and experienced first-hand the frustrations and limitations of a life changing injury. Physiotherapy changed my life not only by getting me back to the volleyball court and the sports that I loved but also offered the support I needed to have confidence in my knee and the belief in myself. I feel honored and lucky to be able to support and educate patients through physical and psychosocial challenges to help them reach their movement goals.

Do you have an area of special interest?
I have a passion for treating acute and chronic spinal pain, shoulder and hip injuries. As an avid learner I have taken and continue to take courses and attend conferences to learn the most up-to-date research to best help my patients. I have consulted on multidisciplinary teams with Physicians and Interventional Radiologists focusing on complex spinal conditions to provide guidance, therapy and support to each patient.

How does movement impact your life?
When not working I enjoy spending time outdoors skiing, mountain biking and hiking with my husband, 2 boys and dog, Piper. In keeping active, I manage old injuries with strengthening, stretching and physiotherapy treatment to support and continue a life full of adventure and movement.

What does a great physiotherapy experience look like to you?
Clear communication, support and dedication in a comfortable and memorable environment. A physiotherapy session needs to include time for the patient to communicate their story, history, worries and beliefs. A clear diagnosis and prognosis communicated to the patient by the therapist explaining findings and a clear treatment plan are essential. A dedicated and empathetic therapist who uses evidence based treatment will get to your goals sooner. Lastly a supportive and friendly environment with a bit of humor.
